My toddler calls my new ex-wife ‘mommy’ — husband allows it

A mum has taken to TikTok to vent after discovering her toddler had called her ex-husband’s new wife ‘mummy’.

“I just met with my ex-husband to exchange our son and found out that my little girl has been calling my ex-husband’s new wife ‘Mama,'” Michelle Kimball says in the clip, which has since. racked up thousands of views and comments.

“So when he said that in the car, I was like huh? So I marched my butt over to the car he was in and asked, ‘Did Ryder call her mom?’

“And he said yes because she’s his mother when you’re not there.”

But Michelle sternly told him that she was NO his mom as she is the only one who gets that “privilege”.

“I just want to know how you feel about it. Am I just in my emotions that I’m upset about this?

“Because I gave birth to him. Because personally, I’m the only one who calls me [mom].

She also reveals that her parents didn’t stay together when she was a child and she “couldn’t imagine” calling anyone else mother then.

The comments were evenly split, with some saying they too would feel hurt, while others shared the experiences of being called their stepmother’s ‘mum’.

“Yeah, out of line,” agreed a third. “It doesn’t matter if she’s around or not. She is always his mother and should be treated as such, regardless of whether mom or dad are together.”

Others pointed out that the young woman “shouldn’t be okay with this”.

Michelle responded: “I agree! She has kids!!!!! She’s good with Ryder so I’m not trying to be mean but I’m so hurt. How would she feel if her kids called someone another mom?”

Then others tried to get Michelle to see another point of view.

“My boys call their stepmom Mama, and I’m totally fine with that. She is there when I can’t be and treats them like her own. It might seem like the worst thing in the world, but those babies are loved,” one person offered.

Another said: “As a child I got into trouble by calling one of my mom, mom. Don’t take this to your son. My stepmother was literally a second mother to me and it hurt me that my mother would be mad at me for that.”
